GPS Devices & Points of Interest

Points of Interest (POI) files may be imported into a GPS device from your computer via the GPS manufacturer's software when the GPS device is hooked into a computer.

Garmin

Garmin users can download the CSV files for import into their Garmin GPS devices using POI Loader.

Download POI Loader from the Garmin.com website with the following guide:

1. Go to Garmin.com
2. Mouse over the "Support" link and click on the Software tab.
3. Click on the "Mapping Programs" link.
4. Click on the "POI Loader" for your operating system.
5. Click the "Download" button and save the file or run and follow directions. (You may want to open and print the "View installation instructions and system requirements")
6. Once the POI Loader is installed, open the program and follow the directions.

Magellan

If you need a file for your Magellan GPS please use the CSV file and Magellan GPS Software for importing the POI files data.

TomTom

If you own a TomTom simply connect it to your computer and click the button or download the OV2 file for the locations you are interested in.

Inactive Location / Place

What does it mean when a location/place is inactive?

When a location is deemed as 'inactive', the location is inaccessible to the public.

Example A

A place of business may be inactive as we were informed that the business is closed until further notice.

Example B

A location may have had an access road washed away or it is under construction or deemed as dangerous to the public.
