We know summer in Western New York is busy for everyone but if you are looking for something a little different this is the weekend of options! This weekend (July 17-18, 2010) is packed full of a variety of diverse events. Italian Festival If you are feeling Italian this weekend then stop at the 28th Annual Festa Italiana. There will be live music, a Bocce Tournament, Italian food and ethnic dishes, a bar serving fancy coffee and espresso and MONEY! Yep, they will be giving out $10,000 in cash this weekend! Scale Model Air Show and Rally Watch the sky as Radio Controlled Scale Model Aircrafts perform stunts as commanded by their R/C pilots. The S.T.A.R.S. 33rd Annual Air Show and Rally is one of the largest Radio Controlled Model Aircraft Scale Rallys in New York State on July 17-18, 2010. Pow Wow Immerse yourself in the celebration of Native American culture and heritage at the Seneca Allegany Casino Veterans Pow Wow. This alcohol-free & family event has Native American arts, crafts, food, music and dance. At the Pow Wow you can watch the Dancers and Drummers compete for $118,000 in prize money. This year there will be a special appearance by Irene Bedard Native American Singer & Actress best known for her roles in Smoke Signals, the Voice of Pocahontas (Disney) & Lakota Woman. Folk Art & Music The Americana Folk Art and Music Fair in Ellicottville will have folk arts, folk music and food at this two day family event. On Saturday, there will be: hands on demonstrations to instill the spirit of creativity in children and adults alike a variety of artisans creating and selling their crafts Folk Art Auction Antique Fair Bee Demonstration Farm Animals & Hay Rides Working Sawmill On Sunday, July 18 there will be the Bluegrass & Roots Music Fair at the Tannenbaum Lodge at Holiday Valley featuring The Doerfels, Blue Mule, Homemade Jam, Zazoo, Cold Creek and Angelica Grim. Tickets for SUNDAY are $10 in advance through Holiday Valley (716-699-2345) or $15 at the gate. Kids under 12 accompanied by parents are free Theater There are now more theater performances offered in Western New York per the creation of the Twin Tiers Theater Festival. Be sure to catch one of the performances of the hilarious play Boeing, Boeing : Bernard, a jet setting architect living in Paris, has been successfully juggling three flight attendant fiancés (with the help of his reluctant housekeeper) by tracking their airlines’ timetables. Starting at 9AM on Sunday you can watch horses and riders compete in riding, horse handling, game events and more at the All Around Cowboy Event Race Races When was the last time you went to the races?
