Have you heard of the previous groups? You'll have a blast sitting or dancing at any one of the concerts on the slopes at Holiday Valley. Rusted Root kicks off the festival on July 1, 2011 at 8PM with their emotional rhythyms, tough strings and tribal drums. To me, Rusted Root creates inspirational action; you may hear a song and decide that you want to dance (imagine that), create a piece of art or exercise. Note to self: add more Rusted Root to playlist. I've been a fan of Rusted Root for over a decade now but I don't have the new album. They'll get the crowd moving and then I'll be part of a bunch of mostly 30-something people having a great time while dancing awkwardly. Tickets are $20 advance until June 25, 2011 and $25 at the gate. I don't have tickets, yet to the BPO performance (July 2) or KC and the Sunshine Band (July 3) but I can tell you that the BPO performances of years past were, in the words of Bill and Ted, "Most righteous!". In saying that, I do realize that throughout history, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and Bill and Ted have not been mentioned in the same sentence. In 2006, the BPO played music from Star Wars and the kids had so much fun. Kids (both young and old) were getting their picture taken with storm troopers, bounty hunters, Han Solo, Chewbacca and other characters from the Star Wars universe played by the great folks at The North Ridge. Kids could also duel with Darth Vader, Darth Maul or have a shoot out with storm troopers who were patrolling the grounds. Another year that I can remember, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra played super hero music! Super heroes were walking around the bottom of the slopes at Holiday Valley looking out for super villians while also taking a break to get a photo with a group of super children. This year on July 2, 2011 at 8PM the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will be playing "the sounds of Disney". After playing the sounds of Disney, be prepared to enjoy a fantastic fireworks show while the BPO plays the 1812 Overture and more! I wonder if there will be any Disney characters walking around? Tickets to see the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra can be purchased for $30 advance to June 25, 2011 and $35 at the gate. To order tickets call 1-800-349-9099 or order online. Get out your dancing shoes on July 3, 2011 to party with KC & the Sunshine Band as they will perform at 7:30PM. Now, I've heard the popular stuff by KC and the Sunshine Band and it is catchy but what I want you to do is look at the photo below. If you are thinking what I'm thinking then we can agree that there are a lot of performers in that photo and with that many people on stage dancing and shaking their booties then you better be having a great time in the audience doing the same thing. Tickets to see KC & the Sunshine Band can be purchased for $30 advance to June 25, 2011 and $35 at the gate. To order tickets call 1-800-349-9099 or order online. At Holiday Valley, don't worry about being packed into a building to watch these bands as you'll be outside with plenty of space to watch, listen and dance the night away.
