Home » Blog » 2017 » 11 #NYGivesDay in Cattaraugus County by Jacquie on Nov152017 Entering its sixth year, Giving Tuesday was founded as a movement for people to remember charity during the holiday season. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources. #NYGivesDay was created out of this and is specific to giving back to nonprofits in New York State. Organizations that are taking part in this 24 hour fundraising event can be found on the NYGivesDay website. You can search for a specific entity, specific location or specific cause! You can read a short summary of the entity, donate directly (via credit card), and also see what your donations are going to or even leave a special message for the recipient.
